On March 17, 2023, the ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone took place for the expansion of the ‘Aquantis’ wastewater treatment plant located in Voreppe (Isère). This project is committed to promoting the water and energy transition of the Voironnais region.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Bruno Cattin, President of the Voironnais Agglomeration Community, Freddy Rey, Vice-President in charge of Water Management, Thaïs Valentino, Water Management Director, accompanied by their project manager, BG Ingénieurs Conseils, and representatives from the consortium comprising Stereau, Mauro SAS, and Caré TP.
The ceremony marked the official launch of the extension works for the plant, which involve the following:
- To increase the purification capacity of the facility to meet the development challenges of the region. The capacity of the facility will be expanded to accommodate 95,000 population equivalents,
- To contribute to the restoration of the ecological quality of the Isère river through enhanced nitrogen treatment, the implementation of a primary settling stage, and anoxic treatment,
- To generate a renewable green energy source for the residents of the Voironnais region. A methanization unit will be constructed on-site, enabling the valorization of sludge from the five wastewater treatment plants in the Voironnais region through the injection of biomethane produced into the GRDF network,
- Overhauling existing facilities and creating a new technical building.
Stereau’s teams are proud of the trust placed in them by the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays Voironnais, and are fully mobilized to successfully complete this ambitious project, a virtuous model of the circular economy for the Pays Voironnais region.
