On Wednesday May 24, Hugo Bardi, Chairman of Stereau and Executive Vice President, Water Engineering, Saur Group, joined Martine Vassal, President of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, René Raimondi, Mayor of Fos-sur-Mer, and Annick Mievre, Director of the Agency’s PACA-Corsica Delegation, inaugurated the new water treatment plant at Fos-sur-Mer (Bouches-du-Rhône), equipped with ultra high-performance water treatment technologies. A project dedicated to environmental excellence.
Anticipating regulatory changes, the new facility uses membrane filtration via the AquaRM® biological process, Stereau’s patented technology, which is particularly well-suited to discharges into sensitive natural environments, and opens the way to the reuse of treated wastewater (REUT).
With its Ammonair® ventilation control system, photovoltaic panels, energy recovery from heating and air-conditioning equipment and heat pumps, the Fos-sur-Mer plant creates its own energy for greater sobriety and a smaller carbon footprint.
With no noise or odour pollution, the plant blends in perfectly with its surroundings. Fully enclosed, it is equipped with the Lanodor® “green” deodorization process, with no chemical inputs and a low carbon footprint.
This new facility, with a capacity of 28,000 population equivalents, is responsible for treating the wastewater from Fos-sur-Mer.
completes the infrastructure currently in service within the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Area.
This construction project was designed with three objectives in mind:
- Meet regulatory requirements for water treatment ;
- Integrate the resort into its environment to satisfy the needs of all residents, in particular by taking into account, right from the design phase, a thorough architectural and landscaping treatment to ensure the best possible integration of the resort into its surroundings;
- Design a resort integrated into a sustainable development approach. For many years, Stereau has been using its innovation to serve residents, public authorities and the protection of water resources.
The new Fos-sur-Mer wastewater treatment plant is further proof of our commitment to helping local authorities achieve their water transition.
